HOW IT WORKS
Once you contact me to book your session, I will email you our session agreement and an invoice for your $50 deposit. I will also send along a detailed newborn questionnaire, which covers posing and color choices, so I know how to prepare and personalize this experience for your family. All paperwork can be completed online.
When I receive your signed agreement and deposit, you will be “booked” for your session! I ask that you contact me once baby arrives so we can determine the date and time for our photo shoot. Your reservation guarantees my availability within the first two weeks following baby’s arrival – whenever that may be.
I only take on a certain number of clients each month, based on due date. As babies set their own arrival schedule, this allows me the flexibility to get babies into the studio if they are born earlier or later than planned, or require extra time in the hospital.
Sessions are best reserved during your second and third trimester.
Forgot to book ahead? Many parents are concerned it may be too late to get newborn photos if their baby is more than two weeks old. I’ve had great success getting beautiful “newborn” images of babies up to two months old – especially if baby enjoys being swaddled. I hate to see families go without portraits at this special time. Please contact me directly and we can figure something out.
CLOTHING AND PROPS
I have a studio filled with wraps, hats, tie-back headbands, and props for your little one in a range of colors. I fully style your session ahead of time (you can see an example of the wraps and backdrops chosen for one baby girl’s session here!) using the color choices you make on your newborn session questionnaire.
I typically cannot accommodate outside props or outfits, but I make exceptions for special heirlooms or sentimental objects or outfits. If you have one of these you would like to include in your session, please let me know when you fill out your questionnaire.
If you plan to take photos with your new baby, coordinated solids and neutral-colored clothing works best.
You don’t need to bring anything with you to your session except whatever you need to keep you and baby comfortable during our two hours together, and a pacifier (if your baby takes one). I keep extra diapers, wipes, and new, unopened pacifiers on hand, in case you forget something.
An online gallery of 20 edited images will be available to you via an email link two to three weeks after your session. You will have two weeks to make image selections and choose a package of digital image files to purchase. Files may be downloaded directly from the gallery.
All sessions take place at my Oceanside studio, ideally within the first two to three weeks after baby’s birth. My studio is a dedicated space attached to my home. It is located in Arrowood, close to the Vandegrift/Douglas intersection. It is a professional space with an attached bathroom, separate from our living quarters. I’ve tried to design a studio space that is comfortable for babies AND their parents. NOTE: Due to COVID, sessions are currently being held under a heated outdoor canopy tent on my property. Please see the COVID page for more details.
I love to share an image from client sessions on my social media accounts or my website a few days after sessions. It gives prospective clients (like you!) a look at the work I’m doing, and it allows parents to have a “sneak peek” of their baby’s images. I post images using baby’s first name only – or without naming baby at all. If you would NOT like your baby’s images to be posted online, you can let me know by checking “PLEASE DO NOT SHARE MY IMAGES” when you fill out your newborn session questionnaire.
Family photos with baby are included at no extra cost. Seating is limited in my studio space, though, so I ask that only immediate family members who plan to take pictures with baby attend our session.
